Prairie strips are a conservation practice that prove small changes can create big impacts.  Research at Iowa State University has shown that strategically integrating native prairie grasses and flowers into rowcrop land can keep topsoil in place, filter surface water, and create habitat for wildlife.  What started as a research project at ISU has now grown into a nationwide conservation practice, available through the USDA’s Conservation Reserve Program.  Dr. Marshall McDaniel and Tim Youngquist of the STRIPS team will discuss current research, farmer implementation, and practical advice for how and where to implement native vegetation in your farming practice.  Join us at the Kress Pavilion at 7845 Church St., Egg Harbor, either in person or on Zoom.
