PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL IMMEDIATELY TO GOVERNOR DOYLE ABOUT THE ASIAN CARP THREAT

HERE'S A SAMPLE LETTER. PLEASE COPY AND PASTE IT INTO YOUR EMAIL. (USE THE LINK BELOW TO GO TO YOUR EMAIL.)

Gov. Doyle,

As you know, Asian carp pose an urgent threat to Lake Michigan--if they get into the lake, they'll devastate the ecosystem, and irrevocably change our fishing industry and recreation habits. At your meeting Feb. 8 with White House officials, please push for these strong actions to protect the Lakes before it's too late:

First, temporarily close the locks in Chicago and tell the Army Corps of Engineers to make public its contingency plan for the possibility that evidence shows carp have made further progress toward the Lakes.

Second, 2014 is too long to wait for a long-term solution to the Asian carp threat. Tell the Army Corps to speed up its study, and to consider permanently closing the "fish highway," the artificial connection between the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes.
