He will be missed.

Jon "Fritz" Renner, 61, Fish Creek, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, of metastatic melanoma.

He was born March 5, 1948, in Milwaukee, to George and Virginia Renner.

Fritz was vice-president of the Door County Environmental Council for many years, where he was a vociferous defender of the natural environment. An avid sailor, he sailed single-handedly across Lake Michigan every summer with his Alaskan malamute, "Zeke."

He was a kind and compassionate man, who will be sadly missed by many dear friends.

Survived by his beloved daughter Ariel Pate, Minneapolis; his sister, Kerstin Conner (Richard) Belvidere, Ill. and Ephraim; his niece, Cybele Weilbacher (Dan) and his cousin, Prilla Beadell (Tony).

He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Kurt and Erik.

A memorial service will take place Tuesday, July 7, 6 p.m. at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. Memorials may be sent to the Door County Environmental Council, Box 114, Fish Creek, WI 54212.
